A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Very good food with local ingredients and a fantastic service, I can highly recommend this restaurant."
"Fabulous inventive food in wonderful restaurant off the tourist track. Fantastic and helpful staff."
"While journeying from Madrid to the Pyrenees, the need to halt for a meal became apparent. Zaragoza, lying midway, emerged as the logical choice for dining. My search for Zaragoza restaurants quickly led me to Mazmorra, spotlighted by its lofty Google Maps ratings as the second-best restaurant in Zaragoza. The urge to experience it was instant. Upon arrival, it was the onset of lunchtime, and the place was noticeably unoccupied. Despite this, a brief hesitation due to reservations was encountered. However, once we mentioned our journey and intent to dine and depart within an hour, they graciously accommodated us at a table. This proactive approach to customer service, even amidst uncertainty, set the stage for what was to become a memorable dining experience. Situated in an unremarkable neighborhood, Mazmorra doesn't immediately impress as one of the top restaurants of a mid-sized city. The ambiance upon entering did not scream exceptional. Yet, certain details hinted that this was no ordinary place. Eager for a taste of uniqueness, we ordered a variety of 5-6 starters and main courses. It was evident that great care was put into the presentation of the dishes. The tapas offered a departure from the typical fare found in Spanish restaurants. While the meats were far from disappointing, they also didn't boast the extraordinary flavors we anticipated. Ultimately, we explored different tastes, but the overall performance fell short of the expectations set by the restaurant's high ratings."
"Frequented by locals the food here is exceptional. I had the best meatballs in 71 years. The truffle sauce could not have been better. The marcona almonds added just the right amount of crunchy flavor. The servers were warm, friendly and very competant. On the list of very memorable meals in my life."
"We wanted a nice meal that wasn’t overrun with people and stumbled upon this place. It was a 15-20 minute walk from Old Town in a non-descriptive building. I thought that we were in the wrong place. We didn’t have reservations but they (luckily) were able to accommodate us. We were able to get by with our passable Spanish. They had an English menu. We’re so glad that we went as the meal was a pleasant surprise. If you’re into vermouth, the you’re in luck as they have a great selection. We got complimentary bread and little shot of soup. We tried the false baby squid which was served with some fancy special effects. Sooo good! The meatballs with truffle was out of the world. The server offered me a nice local Gewürztraminer. Divine!"
"Exquisite dining experience with impeccable service! Don’t judge the book by its cover; located outside of the main city on the bottom floor of an apartment building the interior reveals a billiards theme (not sure of the history). We began with the white asparagus with a nicely balanced vinaigrette followed by the cannelloni stuffed with tender pork cheeks and garnished with a soft egg, broken emulsifying into the sauce-superb! For our main we had the tender, succulent, slow cooked, milk-fed lamb -utterly sublime as were the potatoes. I would guess that they had been braised with onions in olive oil and broth, again excellent. All enjoyed with a bottle on Rioja. Delicious lunch, highly recommended."
"Excellent service and food !! We really enjoy this restaurant.maybe the restaurant doesn’t look nice but food was excellent.worth it (Really recommended)"
"My wife and I shared the veal shank for lunch with a glass of rose. The veal was cooked to perfection along with the presentation. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had!"
